Images of an Air Jordan 1 Retro “BANNED” sample have surfaced. The Black/Red shoe resembles previous editions of the colorway save for a black “X” stamped over the Air Jordan Wings logo on the lateral ankle, the Jumpman Air logo on the tongue, and the Jumpman logo on the heel. The “X” references Nike’s 1985 Air Jordan 1 “Banned” commercial that lampooned NBA uniformity rule fines levied on Michael Jordan for wearing the bold-colored shoes in games. Here is a look at the second color scheme to be released for the Air Jordan 1 Armor Foamposite. The high top comes in Varsity Red/Black with a Foamposite shell encasing the upper. Impressions into the skin of the upper serve to give the shoe its signature stitching patterns, Swoosh, and Wings basketball logo. A black midsole complements the black tongue and ankle collar while white makes up the outsole and tongue patch. Available December 2010. More info to come as it develops. The Air Jordan 2010 Outdoor in Black/Royal/Citrus is available now. The shoe’s upper includes a black nubuck/leather upper with a light blue midsole, orange outsole, and orange sockliner. Light blue accents and green laces provide contrast. Available now at Foot Locker. Retail is $130.
