The Converse Fadeaway silhouette hitting retail locations in recent weeks and months may look familiar – it’s the rebranded, retail-ready version of Dwyane Wade’s former Converse WADE 5 signature shoe before he switched to Jordan Brand. The original samples featured various Wade badging, number “3″ applications”, and other finder details to pull the concept together as a signature model. Underfoot, the Fadeaway features Balls Technology as we originally covered with Converse Design Director Michael DiTullo. Check your local sporting goods retailers for exact availability. Converse Wade 5 – No Wade Logos

Category : Converse

converse-wade5-white-black-rebadged-1

While we’ve given you looks at Converse Wade 5 samples in the past here and here, no official Converse statement or retail news on the ultimate fate of the Wade 5 has yet been made since last year. The shoe was designed and developed as Dwyane Wade‘s fifth signature release but was suddenly canceled last summer as Wade switched to endorse Jordan Brand product instead. This latest “Wade 5″ manifestation we see today is completely stripped of Wade logo badging which was seen on the original samples at the heel with the Wade-as-Converse-Star logo, number “3″ application at the base of the laces, and the phrase “DOUBT ME” located on the tongue of the shoe. Whether all of this has been done in anticipation of a rebranded retail release in some format has not been confirmed yet. More info to come as it develops. Read our interview with Michael DiTullo, Design Director at Converse for the backstory to “Balls Technology” as featured in the former Wade 5. Continue reading for more detailed images of the rebadged Converse “Wade 5″.
