Li-Ning Signs Evan Turner

Li-Ning officially announced today a multi-year endorsement signing with Evan Turner of the Philadelphia 76ers. The deal marks a watershed moment for the emerging Chinese sportwear brands into the US market with this being a first deal rookie signing – with the No. 2 NBA draft pick no less. News broke live at around 1:45 EST on CNBC with Darren Rovell who was accompanied by Turner alongside Brian Cupps, Li-Ning Director of Brand Initiative for Basketball, and David Falk, Turner’s agent and of Nike/Michael Jordan fame.

Eric Miller, lead designer on the Baron Davis product line, will also head up Evan Turner’s Li-Ning signature line. We’ve been told Turner’s official logo has already been created and signature footwear is in the works. Turner will begin promoting Li-Ning’s fall 2010 basketball models with debut signature product launching in 2011. More info to come as it develops.

Li-Ning Doom Mobile Tour Continues

Baron Davis and the Li-Ning “Doom Mobile” will make stops tomorrow, August 19th, at the Plaza in West Covina, California from 11AM to 3PM and on Friday, August 20th, at Stonewood Center in Downey, California from 11AM to 3PM. Visits in the West Covina area will include Del Norte Park, Las Palmas Middle School, Orangewood Park, Baldwin Park, and Edgewood Middle School. Visits in the Downey area will include Lake Center Athletic Park, Allen Layne Stadium, and Downey Park. Here’s a first look unveiling of the Li-Ning F2 Liftoff. The performance basketball model is seen here in five colorways and is part of Li-Ning’s brand new Foam Frame “F2″ line of shoes. F2 technology features a seamless injection molded EVA 1-piece upper design with a fully functional tongue and lace-up reinforcements. The F2 Liftoff carries a solid rubber herringbone traction design and a TPU shank plate underfoot. The shoe will be available online at Li-NingUSA.com and in-store at the brand’s flagship showroom in Portland’s Pearl District at the end of August. Retail is $65. Previewed in five colorways, the model features a seamless 1-piece injection molded EVA upper design with a fully functional tongue and lace up reinforcements. A solid rubber outsole and midfoot TPU shank plate are also present on the shoe. The F2 Trainer is part of Li-Ning’s new Foam Frame “F2″ performance lineup.
