While we saw Monta Ellis wear his AND1 ME8 Tribute shoe yesterday, Nike installed its stable of NBA athletes in special make-up in-line product with a grey body base and Pan-African flag colors of red, black, and green to commemorate the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday in the U.S. The list of “MLK” player exclusive shoes includes: Nike Zoom Kobe V, Nike Hyperize, Nike Air Max Rise, Nike Shark-A-Laid, and Nike Blue Chip II. Last night, the Utah Jazz D-League call-up Sundiata Gaines, instantly had the biggest moment of his NBA career, hitting the buzzer beating, game winning 3-point shot against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Gaines was wearing the Nike Hyperize on a “retro” themed jersey night for the Jazz which meant some new Player Exclusive shoes. The special make-up footwear Miami Heat center-forward Jermaine O’Neal has been wearing this season is hitting House of Hoops locations soon. The shoes come colorblocked in Heat team colors with red patent leather overlays for added flair. Embroidered on the back heel is Jermaine’s interlocking initials and jersey number.
