Recently, Counter Kicks had the privilege of visiting Reebok Headquarters in Canton, MA and met with Paul Litchfield, Reebok Vice President of Advanced Concepts and Reebok Pump creator. A phenomenal meeting, Mr. Litchfield personally gave Counter Kicks a behind-the-scenes look at some old-school samples and new-school developments (all very hush-hush for the moment, of course).
Today, we bring you a select handful of photos from our visit, including 3 never-before-seen original Reebok Pump prototypes.

Launching a new original series, we present CounterKicks Collectors with the collection of hardcore Reebok Pump Fury fan, Justin Rivet. Right in time for the 20th Anniversary of Reebok’s Pump technology, this is a fitting sneaker stockpile to showcase. Justin shares his story on what the Pump Fury meant to the footwear industry and, ultimately, what it meant in 1994 to an 11-year-old kid seeing the bright neon colored sneakers for the first time. In the culmination of a year long effort in planning the Pump 20 Anniversary, Reebok celebrated in a classy, low key style at Pop Burger located in NYC’s trendy Meatpacking district. The venue was Pump’d out with Pump20 signage displayed prominently throughout, enlarged, vintage Reebok advertisments gracing the walls and Pump collaborations displayed in cases.
Highlights of the event included Pump inventor Paul Litchfield introducing the film “History of the Reebok Pump” and appearances by NFL Legend Emmitt Smith and the NBA’s “Human Highlight Film” Dominique Wilkins. Both players endorsed Reebok heavily during their playing days with Emmitt’s marquee shoes being the Reebok Pay Dirt & Scrimmage Mid and Nique’s the Reebok Pump OG and the Twilight Zone Pump. Counter Kicks got a chance to ask Dominique “Human Highlight Reel” Wilkins a few questions last night at the Reebok 20th Anniversary Party in NYC. Dominique tells us his thoughts on the original Reebok Pump shoe, what he thinks of playing in Brooks versus Reebok sneakers back in the day, his suggestion to Reebok to create a “Dominique Wilkins Pump” shoe, and whether or not ‘Nique will ever bring back the Flat Top haircut. Counter Kicks was among select media last night at Pop Burger in NYC to cover Reebok’s official 20th Anniversary Celebration of the PUMP. In this exclusive video, we give you a detailed interior look at the festivities with Pop Burger transformed into a showcase for Reebok Pump history. All of the limited edition Pump20 boutique collab shoes were prominently on display, along with vintage Pump ads, posters, and Pump20 signage.
