Not even the sweltering Texas heat (the high was 102) could keep sneakerheads, aficionados, and those with just an interest in kicks away from Kixpo 2010, which was held on Sunday August 15. Kixpo is Dallas, TX’s signature sneaker event bringing in dealers and buyers from across the state and country. The heat may have been brutal outside but it was similar to a sauna inside the event held at Lofty Spaces just south of downtown Dallas. The warehouse easily fit 200-300 sweaty people at a time inside of it all, eager to check out the wares. In part one of “Shaq vs. Bynum” I will tell you the process of designing for one of the greatest big men in the history of the game. In part two, I will tell you about designing for one of the next generation of championship Lakers big men, Andrew Bynum. Continue reading Stokes Life With Dallas Stokes: Shaq Vs. Bynum Part 1…

Yesterday, Houston Astros outfielder Hunter Pence posted on his official Twitter account (@HunterPence9) a new Reebok Zig technology based model. While the official model name and release schedule isn’t available yet, Pence has went ahead and given the shoe his own name: the Reebok Zig Turf. Based on the image provided, the shoe features a sturdy constructed upper and what looks to be a more splayed out Zig configuration with added solid rubber traction at the forefoot as seen on the basketball Reebok Zig Slash model. More info to come as it develops. Continue reading for a screen capture of Hunter Pence’s original Reebok Zig “Turf” post.

This week’s interview is with Dallas Stokes. A veteran in this game we call shoe design. Dallas has been all over the industry and back. Dallas offers some great insight in his answers, take time to read and learn from them like I did. Continue reading Design Insight: Sessions Vol. 4 With Dallas Stokes…
