Charge it to the game.
Gilbert Arenas has been brandishing a new pair of shoes nearly every game (racking up $5,643 worth of merch in the first half of the season already) and the NBA has taken notice.
The self-proclaimed Sneaker Champ tweeted today:
I gotta wear just black, white or blue…I can’t wear my funky colors no more.
That means no more crazy colored “Olympic” Air Jordan VI kicks, maize and azure blue Air Jordan XI lows, or un-deformed Deion Sanders feet with hints of yellow in the shoes. None of that.
NBA footwear rules only allows players to wear black or white on their shoes along with official team colors. The only days players are allowed to stray from that uniform mandate is during designated NBA Special Event/holiday games where shoe colorways can push the boundaries.
So Gilbert apparently will be keeping the colors basic for the foreseeable future as he followed up by saying he’s going to get fined for shoes the next time he stunts some non-Magic color combos.
It’s too bad. Because Gil also tweeted this:
Grrr and I had some fire comin this west coast trip
And by fire we assume that means some hot kicks.
