CounterKicks event recap: Jordan Fly Wade.

Jordan Brand has officially unveiled Dwyane Wade’s first signature shoe, the Jordan Fly Wade.

“The most important part of the shoe for me was comfort and how it performs.” Wade told CounterKicks about his NBA playoff shoes at the official media launch event inside the Setai Hotel in Miami. “Coming off a long season, my legs are a little heavier and I need a shoe that’s lighter and will give me that advantage.”

Weighing in at 13 ounces, the Fly Wade is the lightest Jordan basketball shoe to date. Designed by creative director Mark Smith and senior designer Tom Luedecke, the sneakers fall in the same vein as D-Wade’s current game shoe. “There are a lot of similarities to the Air Jordan 2011,” Mark Smith said.

The Fly Wade is constructed of lightweight synthetic leather and features Jordan elephant crackle pattern on the outsole and a new Jordan DWade logo on the tongue.

But don’t get to used to the new DWade logo, because it’s subject to change as the new line moves forward.

“We’ve already talked about converting the logo subtly.” Wade said. “Right now the best logo is the Jumpman logo that’s already on there. It works.”
