Feeling down, Dirk gets down.
The last time we saw a solid Finals performance by a superstar nagged by illness was MJ’s flu-riddled Game 5 in ’97. No, Dirk Nowitzki didn’t score 38. He didn’t even crack 30, and barely tipped 20. But Diggler came through when Game 4′s intensity, and his 101-degree fever, was running in the red. Dirk (Nike Hyperdunk 2010) scored 21 – including a huge driving layup past Udonis Haslem in the fading seconds – to help the Mavs knot the series with Miami in an 86-83 victory. He also got by with a little help from his friends. Shawn Marion (Nike Air Max Fly By) put up 16, Tyson Chandler (Hyperdunk 2010) added 13 and 16, Jason Terry (Reebok Zig Slash) stepped up with 17, and DeShawn Stevenson (adidas adiPure Low) got it going early with three 3′s and 11 points off the bench.
D-Wade, Bron, and Bosh kept their red kicks from Game 3 but would pretty much rather have that game’s result instead. Wade (Jordan Fly Wade) led Miami with 32 and Bosh (Nike Air Max Hyperdunk 2010) sidekicked with 24. LeBron? He contributed a triple-single of 8 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists on 3-11 shooting in his Nike LeBron 8 PS. Mike Bibby (Fly Wade) and Mike Miller (Nike Zoom KD III) misplaced their games, offering 0 points and 6 points, respectively.
The pressure cooker is ready to bust. Game 5 happens Thursday night. Does Miami start planning a South Beach rager or does Dallas prepare to avenge 2006′s groin kick?
