Ok, I’ll grant the notion that not every single NBA player is a sneaker freak. But most of them are, and you’d be hard pressed to find one player who doesn’t own a pair of Air Jordans or at least admires J’s. One step further – you’d be hard pressed to find an NBA-playing sneaker freak who doesn’t own a pair of Air Jordan XI Concords. Yet not one pair was worn on Concords Eve yesterday.
Everybody knew they were releasing at midnight last night. Telling me no one has a pair of the 2000 release or an advance pair of the 2011 drop? Alright, let’s give the extraordinary benefit of the doubt to everybody playing last night except Jordan Brand frequenters D.J. Augustin and Joe Johnson. Really, guys? Nothing? D.J., you wear Jordan stuff all the time AND you play for MJ! You guys pick the Jordan CP3.IV and Jordan Prime 5 on Concords Eve? JJ, we know you have Concords because you wore them during the Hawks’ Media Day this year.
The biggest shoe release in years and ho-hum, huh? Guess we’ll have to make do with what all you guys did wear. Some of the notables were probably D.J.’s and JJ’s sneaks, as well as Chris Andersen’s Converse Pro Leather 2K11, Shannon Brown’s Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 Low, Danilo Gallinari’s adidas adiZero Crazy Light, Hakim Warrick’s purple Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011, Steve Nash’s Nike Zoom Go Low, and Jannero Pargo’s Jordan Fly 23. And a few more.
Not bad consolation shoes. Just not Concords.
