The days when Ben Gordon was putting up automatic numbers in Chicago and everyone was calling him “Ben Jordan” feel like ages ago. He grabbed that Detroit money with the thought of getting his own team to run. And he has, only the Pistons have been awful most of his tenure there, mirroring the decline of the city they rep. But Gordon is still an NBA player and he still has his shot, which means on any given night he can pipe up with a special performance. Like last night’s NBA record-tying 9 for 9 from 3-point range for a total of 45 points, 8 assists, and 2 steals. Pistons lost, 116-115 because JaVale McGee happened to make a play but still, you have to give Gordon credit. Who knew he still played let alone had it in him?
