The Super.Fly. For those that don’t know, that was the signal to me that Jordan Brand was back to being focused on performance and not merely hybrids and retros. It was a good combination of cushioning, fit, and durability, and played great on-court. Then, last February, JB completely blew away any ideas of being stale and out of touch – the XX8 made people rethink Zoom Air and introduced us to the magic of Flight Plate which, although not completely original, took the idea in a new direction.
Now we get the XX9 – not completely radical like the XX8 but an evolution of the process. Taking the tech introduced last year and modifying to correct some issues, the XX9 also develops a brand new tech – a performance weave on the upper coupled with the Flight Web seen on last year’s sigs.
